I still live

Hey kids. Been a while. I apologize to those of you who are still checking in and not finding updates and I really do appreciate the commitment.

I haven’t updated in a while because I’m not sure where I’m going from here. The best part of the comic has always been when I post a new page and get to read your comments. But everything leading up to that has increasingly become more and more of a chore. That’s no good. I’ve been trying to find a way to make the whole process fun and whether that’s a new approach or a new project all together, I don’t know.

I’d like to finish this chapter, but I make no guarantees. I played with the idea of making a game, but that’s not looking too feasible at this point. Odds are, I’ll start a new comic, same world, same characters, but a few years down the road from the current timeline and with a more focused plot.

We shall see.

Glad to see that youre alive!
I personally would love to see you finish/continue the comic one way or another, but do what you have to.
If you dont feel like youre getting anything from doing the comic then theres really no reason to do it.

Hey, I’ve been reading for a while (Since the URL was MrDaveRyan, I think, lol) and I’d hate to see you go. But hey, if you’re not having fun, why bother?

Personally I’ve been doing my comic since ‘05 and I find when ever I’m in a funk I start the planning process for the next chapter and that seems to revitalize my love for the damned thing. Or Hell, I’ll start thinking of random, cool, things I’d like to do down the road.

Dunno if that helps, but it’s what works for me.

Either way, keep drawing; even if it’s only one shot pictures. Because I don’t wanna lose the Badass-itude.

just don’t sweat it. Take a year break, or whatever. We all appreciate your work and we would be glad to see another pages, but it’s YOUR work, so it’s up to you. In cold and dark winter evenings, I’ll still think about robos fighting Guy McFly in that golden grass, because it’s freaking awesome and I like it.

If you do end up making a new comic, try writing it backwards in a sense, like have a definite end to it. Also, if you aren’t keen on writing things out to the littlest details, pull a bunch of events out of your head, and make a timeline of the events you want in the comic leading to the end.

I personally thought the plot and feel of the current badass muthas was pretty awesome -especially the graphical vision and application: I found the colours you were using amazing, especially the black, and its all drawn in a beautiful style, most awesome indeed.

But as peeps have said, if your not enjoying it, why continue? If your saying your not enjoying it thought because its too much like hard work…well welcome to the real world lol! But if it’s for some other reason then just stick it in your CV, go for something else, and consider it a great experience that taught you some valuable lessons, most importantly that what you draw is awesome, so you shouldn’t deprive the world of it!! Damn, I was looking forward to more blastas, black cannon shots and naruto ninja action, so get to it with something else!!

Man, do whatever it takes to not burn out. Take a break, stop the comic whatever.
Personally, I think that your drawing style and the characters, not to mention the world you have created are just too plain awesome to stop using entirely.
Another comic featuring them would be awesome and it would give you time off to recharge the batteries and to enjoy making the comic. And I’m pretty sure I speak for everyone in saying that we’ll all be hanging out and wating for you to start up again.

As someone with over 55 half-finished creative works, I can hardly fault you, Dave. Lemme know if you need random ideas thrown at you, or tips to get out of a storyline conundrum. This summer, I’m gonna work on a photo comic about a limey robot hunter, and his sword-wielding galpal. I’ll Photoshop the effects and backgrounds in afterward. At the very least, it’ll be something interesting for me and my friends to do.

do what you must, but dont let the characters die!!

plz! not only Fran, the starting charas and the whole setting and world is just kickass, otherwise i wouldn´t check twice a week if something new´s here.

Seriously, Dave, maybe it’s time to shop this project around. I think we could all envision B.A.M. as a sort of adult swim cartoon. Let Korean animators ape your style, then sit back and executive produce this joint. Hasn’t that always been the goal, to get paid mad money for your your talents? There’s got to be somewhere to submit your comic. Anyone got any connections for Dave?

As long as you don’t give up on the world you’ve created, I’ll be satisfied.

Dude, sorry it took so long to throw in my two cents. Being the mad Scottish one, the internet and I don’t play nice. (Bad connection where I live.)

So, I basically wanted to reiterate what everyone else has said; do what you gotta do. Archive this stuff, start a fresh and do what you think would be fun.

You’ve always been your own man, so let that continue. And I’ll be here. Watching. Always. @_@

Well darn, that’s a shame, I just started reading this comic! And it’s really awesome too!

Such a pity that most webcomics are now going on hiatus or are just stopping completely… All the good ones too…

Ah well, hope you manage to do something awesome with whatever you’re doing! I’ll miss Badass Muthas (especially McFly) :D

Yes, take Hernando’s advice. There’s not many cartoons worth watching these days, so you could easily fill find a badass audience. Just finding a badass producer to take you up on the offer will be the bitch.

Yeah I agree with Panda and Hernando, I can totally see this as a cartoon! Like… Like Happy Tree Friends and those Adult Swim Cartoons combined.
How much can you rake outta those things though?

had been wondering what happened, glad you’re well. do what is right, you’ll know. just keep us posted on whatever you do, your styles are mad nice, but life is for living and personally I respect the fact you stopped when it became a chore, it would have been sad to read something made under pressure, from fans or self.

I was hooked by the art style you used and the great open story. Ive been here for a while, not as long as some others, but I loved this comic all the same.
I like the idea of looking at the same story from a different approach like a few years into the future, or maybe looking at the story from another characters perspective and how things are changed because of it.
Whatever you do, keep the same art style cus its awesome, and dont stop because you’re very imaginative adn clever.

Your style is awesome and a joy to read, and I love your characters. Take as much time as you need to recharge. We’ll be here when you get back.

In the meantime, we’ll amuse ourselves with BAM slash-fiction.

Hey dude,
I love the work you do here- very original and inventive. Sometimes it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it has an artistic flow that’s gotta be a bitch to come up with and have it come out as good as it is. Please just don’t leave us hangin! So many great webcomics just up and end, leaving us with comic blueballs. If you wanna wrap up this story (and hopefully do another storyline) then pull something unexpected. Have Fran shot in the head, have him shoot the judge guy, have him wake up from his mushroom acid trip- whatever. You must have a million ideas. When it comes to art, sometimes just sitting down and doing it- even if you don’t feel like it- is enough to get the juices going again. I hope we haven’t seen the last of ya.
