I think it's pretty sweet. Only thing I can recommend is that the title and links may look a little better if switched with the ad banner. I kinda had to look for it a bit before I noticed it up top. Otherwise it's kickass, and alot more compact.

I think it's a little less stagnant and totally visually attractive.
I'm not so sure I like the comic on the right, but it's not all that bad.
In all, it's pretty sweet.
